Bulyanhulu Gold Mine (owned by Twiga Minerals Cooperation formerly Barrick Gold Corporation) is situated in northwest Tanzania, in the Kahama district of the Shinyanga region, approximately 55 kilometers south of Lake Victoria and 150 kilometers southwest of the city of Mwanza.
Bulyanhulu is a narrow-vein gold mine containing gold, silver and copper mineralization in sulphides. The mineralization of Bulyanhulu is associated with a number of steeply dipping veins. Bulyanhulu commenced commercial production in 2001.
Bulyanhulu Gold Mine applies the highest standards of environmental management as they usually review annually their site’s Environmental Management System (EMS). Tansheq was contracted to facilitate an Environmental Audit for the year 2019/2020 and the objective was to assess compliance to the applicable laws and regulations as well as conforming to the environmental management system standards i.e., ISO 14001.
